Austin Police Looking for Help Identifying Suspect in Attempted Child Kidnapping

The Austin Police Department Child Abuse Unit is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect wanted for an attempted sexual assault of a child.

Police are describing the case as a “kidnapping incident” that occurred on January 30 at an apartment complex in the 2600 block of E. MLK Blvd.

Anyone with information about the identity of or the whereabouts of the suspect pictured above is asked to call the 512-472-TIPS (8477) or the APD Child Abuse Unit at 512-974-6880.

Separately, APD’s Aggravated Assault Unit is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting at the Elm Ridge Apartments, 1190 Airport Blvd., on Thursday, January 10, 2020.

The police department said in a press release, “An individual knocked on the door and a child inside of the apartment was the first to respond and ask who was there. The adult female then came to the door, asked who was there and was shot through the door. There were multiple children near the door when the shooting occurred. The suspect fled the scene.”

Emergency personnel responded to the scene where they provided medical aid to the victim, who was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Video footage from the complex shows many people in the parking lot at the time of the shooting, so police are hoping someone saw something and will come forward.
