19-Year-Old Shot Dead in South Austin Drive-By Shooting

A teenager lost his life Friday night in a shooting that may have been a case of mistaken identity, according to a new bulletin from the Austin Police Department.

At approximately 11:10 p.m., Austin 9-1-1 received multiple calls regarding shots fired in the 2200 block of E. Stassney Lane.

“Callers stated it was a drive-by shooting and one person had been shot. Officers and EMS arrived on scene and located Oscar San Juan Jaimes with life threatening injuries,” APD stated.

Jaimes was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced deceased at 11:54 p.m.

Homicide detectives spoke with witnesses and received information indicating that the shooting “is the result of an ongoing feud between known subjects. However, Jaimes was only visiting the address and may not have been the intended target.”
