At least 150 companies have announced new projects or headquarters in Texas so far this year, marking a period of furious economic growth, rising prices, and labor migration.
This list of announcements covers January through October 2021 and was compiled from separate lists published monthly by the state’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism.
Samsung in Taylor: Samsung announced that their newest semiconductor fabrication facility will be located in Taylor, Texas. The new facility is expected to create more than 2,000 new jobs and $17 billion in capital investment. Samsung was extended a Texas Enterprise Fund grant of $27 million.
CBRE in Dallas & Richardson: CBRE plans to expand their Dallas headquarters with the creation of 460 new jobs and more than $29 million in capital investment. This is in addition to a new operations center in Richardson, which will create 550 new jobs and more than $13 million in capital investment. CBRE was extended Texas Enterprise Fund grants of $3.45 million and $3.3 million for the two projects.
Texas Instruments in Sherman: Texas Instruments announced up to four new semiconductor fabrication facilities in Sherman. The company could employ up to 3,000 people and invest nearly $30 billion in the project over the coming decades.
Chem-Energy in Caldwell County: Chem-Energy selected Caldwell County to invest $1 billion with the development of two new facilities, creating 400 new jobs. The project will include two innovative solar and battery power plant facilities.
BASF in Lubbock: BASF Agricultural Solutions announced the addition of two teams to its Lubbock Field Research Station, bringing 23 new positions, along with a capital investment of $1.25 million.
Shop LC in Cedar Park: Shop LC announced the relocation of its national headquarters to Cedar Park. The television network and online retailer plans to create more than 1,000 new jobs and $50 million in capital investment with the move.
Walmart in Lancaster: Walmart will add two more high-tech hubs to its growing supply chain network in Lancaster, creating about 1,000 new jobs. The facilities will include an automated fulfillment center and grocery distribution center.
Arbor Eyewear in Lubbock: Arbor Eyewear announced a new production facility in Lubbock, which is expected to create 75 new jobs and $1.5 million in capital investment over the next five years.
Tongrun International in Bonham: Tongrun International is expanding their North Texas manufacturing campus in the city of Bonham, creating 75 new jobs. The expansion will significantly increase the company’s capital equipment capacity to meet customer demand.
Unify Energy Solutions in Houston: Unify Energy Solutions, which provides management and automation solutions for commercial energy consumption, announced a new location in Houston where it will bring more than 100 employees.
Ecolomondo Corporation in Shamrock: Ecolomondo Corporation, a Canadian cleantech company, has selected Shamrock for the location of its first U.S.-based waste-to-resources Thermal Decomposition Process plant.
MPV Plastics in Brownsville: Automotive supplier, MPV Plastics announced plans for a new location in Brownsville in order to become more “strategic” to its customers with operations in Mexico.
Emerson Automation Solutions in Round Rock: Emerson Automation Solutions announced plans for an expansion of their operations in Round Rock. The expansion will consist of a new 12,000-square-foot building with construction planned for early 2022.
Restaurant Revolution Technologies in Southlake: Restaurant Revolution Technologies, an order management and point-of-sale integration company, relocated its headquarters from Washington to Southlake.
Strategic Manufacturers in Katy: Strategic Manufacturers, Inc. announced plans to build two new manufacturing plans in Katy. When fully operational, the plants will produce 4.5 billion nitrile gloves annually and 120,000 metric tons of synthetic rubber.
Northwest Hardwoods in Frisco: Northwest Hardwoods announced the relocation of its headquarters from Washington to Frisco in order to better position itself to serve customers around the globe.
Tesla in Austin: Fortune 500 firm, Tesla announced the relocation of its headquarters from California to Austin, making way for expanded operations and bolstering the Central Texas economy.
PTG in Fort Worth: Packaging Technology Group (PTG), a provider of thermal packaging solutions and services for the bio and life sciences sector, announced a new location in Fort Worth. The project is expected to create new jobs and triple the company’s production capabilities.
Plastikon in Kyle: Plastikon Industries, an international automotive manufacturer and supplier to companies like Tesla and Toyota, will open a new facility in Kyle. The project is expected to create $13.6 million in capital investment and 200 new jobs.
SAF in Temple: SAF, a global metals distributor, fabricator and finisher, announced it will expand capacity and capabilities with a new manufacturing location in Temple. The project is expected to create 10 new jobs with the potential to reach 50 jobs in coming years.
ThredUp in Lancaster: ThredUp Inc., an online resale platform for women’s and kids’ apparel, shoes, and accessories, will invest $70 million to expand operations and build a distribution hub in Lancaster. The facility is expected to create up to 2,000 jobs.
PepsiCo in Dallas: PepsiCo announced a new digital hub in Dallas, which will include 150 new positions to optimize everything from shipping and warehouse operations to sales and marketing.
Zinc Resources in Victoria: Zinc Resources has announced a new location and at the Port of Victoria. The company will invest about $60 million and create 60 new jobs at the facility to help safely recycle hazardous dust.
Georgia-Pacific in Pineland: Georgia-Pacific announced that one of its sawmills in Pineland, Texas, will undergo $120 million in additions and improvements in an overall modernization effort that will also increase the mills’ overall production.
Hall Technologies in Coppell: Hall Technologies will move their headquarters from California to Coppell, Texas, in order to be closer to their customer base.
HomeGoods in Fort Worth: A new HomeGoods distribution center is anticipated to break ground in late November in Fort Worth, bringing with it about 1,000 potential new jobs.
Grimes Industrial in Tomball: Grimes Industrial announced they will expand their operations to a larger 11,000-square-foot facility in Tomball, adding to their production capabilities.
Tangram in Dallas: Southern California-based interior provider, Tangram announced it will bring its regional headquarters to Dallas.
Leprino Foods in Lubbock: Leprino Foods will establish a new dairy products manufacturing facility in Lubbock. The project is expected to create 600 new jobs and nearly $870 million in capital investment. A Texas Enterprise Fund grant of $4.2 million has been extended to the company.
Knauf Insulation in McGregor: Knauf Insulation will establish their new manufacturing and distribution facility in McGregor, creating 151 jobs and more than $210 in capital investment. The company has been extended a Texas Enterprise Fund grant of $819,175.
Bluebonnet Nutrition in Sugar Land: Bluebonnet Nutrition announced the expansion of their operations in Texas with a third location in Sugar Land. The facility is expected to create $18 million in capital investment and 200 new jobs
Gatik in Fort Worth: Gatik announced new Fort Worth operations, which are expected to create more than 500 new jobs by 2025, including operational, technical, and business jobs. Gatik has teamed up with the AllianceTexas Mobility Innovation Zone to develop autonomous vehicle technology.
Primal Pet Group in Abilene: Primal Pet Group broke ground on their new $31.6 million plant expansion in the Five Points Business Park in Abilene. The project is expected to create and retain more than 250 jobs in the Abilene area.
AdStar Media in Dallas: AdStar Media relocated from Michigan to Dallas. The company cited Dallas’ growing population and market opportunities as the perfect place for their up-and-coming advertising company.
CarMax in Plano: CarMax announced plans for a new technology innovation center in Plano. The new center will create more than 300 new jobs and will be the company’s largest facility outside of their headquarters in Virginia.
Wallbox in Arlington: Wallbox is planning to build their first U.S. manufacturing facility in Arlington. The project is expected to create 250 direct jobs in the region by 2030.
Latham & Watkins in Austin: Private equity firm, Latham & Watkins, will open a new office in Austin. The firm chose Austin for the area’s thriving market and growing influence on the U.S. and global economy.
Cooperative Laundry in San Marcos: Robotics-based commercial laundry service company, Cooperative Laundry is expanding to San Marcos. The project will create $20 million capital investment and more than 100 new jobs.
Cirrus Aircraft in McKinney: Cirrus Aircraft will open a new satellite Innovation Center in McKinney. The new facility will allow for the company to pursue new innovations in aircraft product development.
Truvant in Hazlet: Packaging services solutions company, Truvant is expanding to a 355,000-square-foot facility in Hazlet. The new facility will brings more than 150 new jobs, with the potential to grow to 500 jobs over the next 36 months.
Amazon in Abilene: Amazon is opening their newest last-mile delivery center in the Five Points Business Park in Abilene. The new center will create dozens of new jobs and is expected to be operational by early 2022.
Fluence Analytics in Stafford: Fluence Analytics, a startup providing process analytics and control solutions to polymer and biopharma manufacturers, relocated its headquarters from New Orleans to Stafford, Texas.
DCI Metal in Fort Worth: DCI Metal will expand from Southern California into Fort Worth to accommodate new and existing customers. The expansion will initially bring more than 20 full-time positions, with plans to expand beyond 40.
Corrigan OSB in Polk County: Corrigan OSB, a wood-products manufacturing company, is building their newest production facility in Polk County. The project will create 50 new jobs and $211 million in capital investment. A Texas Enterprise Fund grant of $278,000 has been extended to the company.
MD7 in Allen: MD7, LLC, formerly headquartered in San Diego, will relocate their corporate headquarters to Allen. The project will create 218 new jobs and more than $6.8 million in capital investment. A Texas Enterprise Fund grant of $773,000 has been extended to MD7.
AECOM in Dallas: Fortune 500 firm, AECOM, is moving their global headquarters from Los Angeles to Dallas in October. The engineering firm cites their already strong presence in the Lone Star State as one of the reasons for the decision.
Pickle Juice in Mesquite: Pickle Juice recently completed a new 66,000-square-foot production facility in Mesquite, expanding their presence with a facility six times larger than their previous space.
GovOS in Austin: Digital document management company, GovOS Inc, moved their headquarters to Austin. The company plans to build a team of 100 new employees by the end of the year.
S2A Modular in Waco: California-based modular home manufacturer, S2A Modular, is building a new factory in Waco with production beginning in 2022. The facility, named S2A Texas MegaFactory, will be capable of producing 1,000 homes per year.
NinjaRMM in Austin: Software manufacturer, NinjaRMM, has opened their new headquarters in Austin. The company announced the relocation from California in March and plans to hire dozens of employees at the new headquarters.
Green Dot in Austin: Green Dot is a fintech company that was formerly based in California. The company recently announced that they are moving their headquarters to Austin.
SunOpta in Midlothian: SunOpta is building a new production facility in Midlothian which will be sized at 285,000-square-feet with the capability to expand to more than 400,000-square-feet. The development will bring more than 180 new high paying jobs to the region.
Oatly in Fort Worth: Oatly has chosen Fort Worth for its next production facility in North America. The manufacturing center will be 280,000-square-feet and will be completed in 2023. The company plans to hire more than 100 new employees with great benefits.
Ovivo in Hutto: Global water treatment company, Ovivo, plans to build a 110,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in the Innovation Business Park in Hutto. The new facility will bring more than 100 new jobs to the area.
Signature Biologics in Irving: Signature Biologics, LLC is adding a new 36,000-square-foot facility to their expanded operations at their Irving location. The new facility will be equipped with manufacturing and R&D laboratory spaces.
Cangshan Cutlery in Leander: California-based knife manufacturer, Cangshan Cutlery, announced that the company will relocate their international headquarters to Leander in 2023. The company will develop a 400,000-square-foot production and administrative facility that will bring more than 300 new jobs to the area and $150 million in annual revenue.
Flexible Funding in Fort Worth: Flexible Funding, LLC is moving their corporate headquarters from San Francisco to Fort Worth. The company will base their executive team and talent acquisition at the new headquarters.
Optimus Steel in Orange County: Optimus Steel is establishing a new rebar line and coil handling facility in Orange County. The project will create more than 50 new jobs and $40 million in capital investment. A Texas Enterprise Fund grant of $485,000 was extended to the company.
REE in Austin: Israel-based automotive manufacturer, REE, announced plans to open their U.S. headquarters and first integration facility in Austin. The facility will create more than 150 new jobs over the next few years.
Three Projects in Abilene: The Development Corporation of Abilene announced three new projects: Hendrick Health’s new service center, Abilene Christian University’s new nuclear energy lab and Primal Pet Group’s expansion in the area. The projects will create more than $76 million in capital investment and 250 new jobs.
ElringKlinger in San Antonio: German auto parts manufacturer, ElringKlinger, is building a new manufacturing facility on the east side of San Antonio. The project will create more than 50 new full-time jobs over four years.
SpaceX in McGregor: SpaceX is planning to build a new facility in Central Texas to produce Raptor 2 engines. SpaceX’s Raptor rocket engines are built for reusable space flight.
Haldor Topsoe in Pasadena: Denmark-based hydro processing company, Haldor Topsoe, will build a new 15,000 ton-per-year hydro processing-catalyst plant at its existing site in Pasadena.
Kval in Hutto: Kval, a manufacturer of advanced door machinery, is partnering with Titan Development to build a new 52,500-square-foot facility in Hutto.
Biotics in Rosenberg: Biotics Research Corp. is opening a new headquarters, research facility, warehouse and distribution center in Rosenberg. The project is expected to create 25 new jobs and $9 million in capital investment.
Schumacher in Fort Worth: Schumacher Electric Corporation, a maker of automotive power products, moved its headquarters from the Chicago area to Fort Worth, near DFW Airport.
QTC in San Antonio: QTC Management, Inc. announced its new operation service center in San Antonio. The project will create more than 250 new jobs and more than $3 million in capital investment. The Texas Enterprise Fund extended a grant of $849,000 to the company.
Frito-Lay in Rosenberg: Frito-Lay announced a $200 million investment at its Rosenberg facility. The expansion is expected to be completed in 2023 and create 160 new full-time jobs.
Plastics Express in Baytown: California-based plastics resin logistics company, Plastics Express, announced the creation of 50 new jobs at the Cedar Ports Logistics Center in Baytown.
Canoo in Dallas: Electric vehicle startup, Canoo Inc., announced plans to build offices in Justin, Texas, near the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
240 Tech in Cedar Park: 240 Tech will build its second headquarters in Cedar Park. The new facility will create 35 jobs with an average annual salary of $80,000.
Biotics Research in Rosenberg: Biotics Research announced a new corporate headquarters, research facility, warehouse and distribution site in Rosenberg. The project expansion will create $9 million in capital investment and 25 new jobs.
Switch in Round Rock: Switch, a Las Vegas-based data center company plans to build its fifth major U.S. facility in Round Rock. The data center will span more than 1.5 million square feet, with construction scheduled to begin in summer 2021.
Revol Greens in Temple: Revol Greens announced plans to build its newest greenhouse in Temple. The facility will be the largest of its kind in the world and will generate more than $100 million in capital investment.
GS Foods in Houston: California-based specialized food distributor, GS Foods Group, Inc., announced its newest distribution center in Houston.
Spiritless in Austin: Spiritless, a three-year-old Whiskey company, relocated its headquarters to Austin.
F45 in Austin: Previously based in California, the celebrity-backed fitness company, F45, is now headquartered in Austin.
Youtech in Plano: Digital marketing agency, Youtech, opened a new office in Plano and plans to hire 50 people.
Therabody in Dallas: A California-based wellness company, Therabody, is locating its second U.S. headquarters near downtown Dallas. The location will bring 50 new jobs.
Quiet 3PF in Dallas: Quiet 3PF, a Massachusetts-based logistics firm, opened its first location in North Dallas, employing more than 400 workers.
Plastikon in Kyle: Plastikon announced plans to build a new factory in Kyle, employing more than 200 people by the end of the year.
SBP Hospitality in Houston: SBP Hospitality, the parent company of Logan’s Roadhouse and other full services brands, has moved its headquarters from Nashville, Tennessee, to Houston.
NRG to Houston: Fortune 500 company, NRG Energy, has officially designated Houston as its new sole headquarters location and will relocate its base from Princeton, New Jersey. The company cited the diversity of Houston’s professional talent among the key factors driving the decision.
Wagners CFT in Parker County: Australian-based structural fiberglass manufacturer, Wagners CFT, is building their first U.S. manufacturing and assembly plant in Parker County, Texas. A Texas Enterprise Fund grant of $1,799,984 has been extended to the company for the creation of more than 300 new jobs.
Cacique in Amarillo: Cacique is opening their newest food processing facility in Amarillo. The project will create close to 200 jobs and $88 million in capital investment. A Texas Enterprise Fund grant of $1,132,000 has been extended to Cacique.
SIMFLO, VXI Global Solutions LLC, Starnik Systems and CEV Multimedia in Lubbock: Four Lubbock-based companies are planning to expand their footprint in the area, creating more than 500 new jobs and a combined capital investment of $11.4 million.
Aviagen in Longview: Poultry breeding company, Aviagen North America, is planning to invest $24 million in a new facility in the Longview Business Park, creating at least 69 jobs.
Amazon in Robstown: Amazon announced its next distribution facility in Nueces County, creating around 100 new jobs in the area. The Last Mile Facility is expected to be running by late 2021.
Future Foam in Garland: Future Foam, an Iowa-based polyurethane manufacturer, will be expanding to Texas at a manufacturing facility in Garland. The company plans to create more than 100 jobs at this location.
Einride in Austin: Swedish autonomous electric freight vehicle company, Einride, will establish their U.S. headquarters in Austin. The company is expected to hire more than 50 employees for their Austin headquarters.
Green Dot in Austin: Fintech firm, Green Dot is moving their headquarters to Austin from Pasadena, California. The company plans to set up their new headquarters by the end of 2021.
SmartAction in Fort Worth: SmartAction, an artificial intelligence software company, recently announced plans to move their headquarters from Los Angeles County to Fort Worth. The move will bring 81 new, full-time positions.
Slalom in Texas: Consulting firm, Slalom announced plans to create 200 new software development jobs across their Dallas, Houston, Austin and Fort Worth offices in 2021.
Falkon Technologies in McKinney: Falkon Technologies will double its footprint in McKinney with the expansion of its headquarters. The company plans to create 20 new jobs over the next three years.
Sunoco LP in Brownsville: Dallas-based motor fuel company, Sunoco, is developing a new refinement terminal at the Port of Brownsville. The terminal is expected to be completed by the middle of 2022, generating a total investment of $55 million.
Rev in Austin: Rev, a voice-to-text service, is planning to expand their headquarters in Austin with the addition of 130 new employees.
Great Lakes Cheese in Abilene: Cheese manufacturer, Great Lakes Cheese, is establishing a new distribution and packaging center in Abilene. The project will create more than 500 jobs and close to $185 million in capital investment. A $3 million Texas Enterprise Fund grant has been extended to the company. Governor Greg Abbott was joined by Texas State Senator Dawn Buckingham and State Representative Stan Lambert at the project announcement.
Rhino Health in Fort Worth: New Mexico-based PPE manufacturer, Rhino Health LLC, is planning to open its largest manufacturing facility in Fort Worth. The 400,000 square-foot facility will create 800 new jobs.
i2c in San Antonio: i2c, a global provider of payments processing technology and banking solutions, is planning to open a new contact center in San Antonio, expected to create more than 300 new jobs.
Wayfair in Austin: Online home furnishing store, Wayfair, is coming to Austin. The new engineering office is expected to open within the next year and hire up to 200 new positions.
Allegiant Travel Company in Austin: Allegiant Travel Company will invest $75 million in a new hub at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, creating at least 89 new high-paying jobs.
Skipcart in San Antonio: Texas-based Skipcart is expanding its headquarters to San Antonio, bringing more than 100 new jobs.
Markaaz in Austin: Formerly based in Los Angeles, Markaaz has relocated its headquarters to Austin. The technology company plans to create 70 new jobs by the end of the year, and 150 new jobs by 2022.
Matthews’ Saueressig Engineering in San Antonio: Matthews International Corporation plans to develop its North American headquarters in San Antonio, creating 50 new high-paying jobs.
SafeRide Health in San Antonio: California-based healthcare technology company, SafeRide Health, is expanding its business to downtown San Antonio. The project will create 100 new jobs over the next five years.
Pregis in DFW: Pregis, a manufacturer of protective packaging, opened a new distribution facility in Garland, which will employ more than 80 individuals by the end of the year. The company will also open a new manufacturing facility in Arlington summer of 2021, which will hire 80 new employees.
Blockcap in Austin: Bitcoin mining company, Blockcap, is establishing its headquarters in Austin. The company is anticipating bringing 32,000 new mining machines over the next year.
Pegatron in El Paso: Pegatron, a Taiwanese tech company and supplier for companies like Apple and Tesla, is building their first U.S. manufacturing site in El Paso.
Nissei America in San Antonio: Nissei America, a manufacturer of injection molding machinery, is moving their headquarters to San Antonio from Anaheim, California.
Wiley X in Frisco: Protective eyewear brand, Wiley X, is moving their global headquarters, manufacturing and distribution site from Livermore, California, to Frisco.
Gap Inc. in Longview: Gap Inc. announced plans to open a new “Customer Experience Center” in Longview. This new campus will create more than 500 full-time jobs by the end of 2023 and create $140 million in capital investment.
Amazon in San Marcos: Amazon began construction on a new facility in San Marcos in March. The facility will provide last-mile delivery services for large items, such as furniture, televisions and outdoor equipment and will be the largest industrial facility in the two-county footprint of Hays and Caldwell County.
Roboze in Houston: Italy-based 3D printing systems company, Roboze, announced plans to open their new U.S. headquarters in Houston. The company expects to hire more than 100 employees in the next two years.
StatLab Medical Products in McKinney: McKinney-based diagnostic supply and equipment manufacturer StatLab Medical Products announced an expansion of their operations in McKinney with a 50,000 square-foot distribution facility.
Corsicana Mattress in Corsicana: Mattress manufacturer, Corsicana Mattress, announced plans to establish a new 376,000 square-foot manufacturing center in Corsicana, scheduled to open in September.
Biomerics in Athens: Utah-based medical device manufacturer, Biomerics, announced plans to expand their operations to Texas. The facility is set to open in Athens by the end of 2021.
Gilad & Gilad in Georgetown: Gilad & Gilad, a nerve specialization company based in Southern California, announced the relocation of their headquarters to Georgetown. The move will offer the company new business connections and better proximity to good medical centers.
MDC Precision in Pflugerville: MDC Precision announced plans to open new operations in Pflugerville. The project is expected to create $4.45 million in capital investment and up to 90 new jobs.
FERA in College Station: New York-based animal health diagnostic company, FERA Diagnostics and Biologicals, announced plans to move their headquarters to College Station. The move is due to the strategic location and competitive business environment found in the Brazos Valley.
ACT in San Antonio: California-based battery and charging innovation company, Advanced Charging Technologies Inc., announced a new manufacturing facility in San Antonio. The facility will be the company’s first Texas facility.
CrowdStreet in Austin: Online real estate investment marketplace, CrowdStreet, announced plans to relocate its corporate headquarters from Portland, Oregon, to Austin, reflecting it’s established track record of growth in Texas.
Harmonate in Austin: Harmonate, a California-based private capital data operations company is moving its corporate headquarters from San Jose, California, to Austin.
Amazing Magnets in Round Rock: Amazing Magnets broke ground on their new headquarters in January, making their official move from Anaheim, California, to Round Rock.
Digital Realty in Austin: With an already robust presence in the state, Digital Realty announced plans to move their global headquarters to Austin from San Francisco, California.
Republic National Distributing in Pflugerville: Wine distributor, Republic National Distributing, announced plans to expand its operations to Pflugerville. The project is expected to create more than 300 jobs.
Ametrine Inc. in Round Rock: Ametrine Inc., a specialty manufacturing company, is moving its headquarters to Round Rock from Rockville, Maryland, bringing 140 new jobs.
Quali in Austin: Israeli tech startup, Quali announced that they are designating their current Austin office as their North American headquarters.
Amazon in Amarillo: Adding to their many distribution centers already in Texas, Amazon’s newest facility will be built in Amarillo, creating more than 500 new jobs.
Uzin Utz in Waco: Aurora, Colorado-based Uzin Utz, a German floor installation maker, is planning a new development and research center in Waco that is slated to be completed by 2024.
Lightsource BP in Lamar County: British solar energy company, Lightsource BP, began commercial operation of a new $250 million solar power plant, which is expected to power more than 41,000 homes.
Gecko Robotics in Austin and Houston: Pittsburgh-based technology company, Gecko Robotics, is expanding its operations in both Austin and Houston.
Walker Engineering in Pflugerville: Dallas-based Walker Engineering announced they are expanding to Pflugerville with a new office that will employ 130 people by its fifth year of operation.
Formosa Plastics in Texas: Formosa Plastics Corporation is planning to invest $2.92 billion in Texas operations to increase the production of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) and caustic soda.
Soft-Tex International in Sugar Land: Bedding and home comfort producer, Soft-Tex began operations at their new shipping facility in Sugar Land, which will add hundreds of new jobs in the area.
Amazon in Lubbock: Amazon announced two new facilities in Lubbock, creating $24 million in capital investment, 230 new fulltime jobs, and several hundred part-time jobs.
